NEW INITIATIVE LAUNCH: Farm gate to Fork: Bameen Surplus Project

Tackling Food Waste • Feeding Our Communities • Empowering Through Action

This Black History Month, BAMEEN is proud to launch “Farms to Families” – a year-long initiative collecting surplus produce directly from local farms and distributing it to marginalised and food-insecure communities across Hull.

By partnering with farmers impacted by overproduction, cosmetic standards, or market fluctuations, we’re ensuring that fresh, nutritious food reaches:

  • Low-income families
  • Elderly residents
  • Individuals facing food insecurity

This initiative fights food waste at the source while building a sustainable, community-led model of food justice.

Volunteers Needed – Join Us This October

We’re calling on volunteers to join this effort—from collecting and packing food to distribution and outreach. With the UK government’s recent policy change, migrants who volunteer may be eligible for settlement, making this an ideal time to get involved.

Volunteering through BAMEEN is not just about giving back. It’s about building futures, strengthening communities, and creating real, lasting change.”
